In the United States, the minimum age to make a tandem skydive is 18 years old. Tandem jumps — where you're harnessed to a certified instructor — are the most common way to start skydiving, and nearly all dropzones enforce the 18-year rule strictly because of federal aviation regulations and insurance requirements.

Some dropzones offer static-line or instructor-assisted programs for 16- and 17-year-olds with signed parental consent, but these are much less common and depend on the individual dropzone's policies. Outside the US, minimum ages vary by country — many European dropzones also require 16 or 18.
