📖 How It Works

A planetary year is simply the time a planet takes to complete one orbit around the Sun, and every planet does it at a different speed. Mercury whips around in 88 Earth days, while Neptune plods through a single orbit in almost 165 Earth years. Your body ages at the same rate no matter where you stand — but the number of "birthdays" you have celebrated depends entirely on which planet's clock you are reading.

The calculator converts your exact birth moment into the orbital period of each world using the official sidereal orbit values from NASA planetary fact sheets. For every planet it returns your local age (completed planetary years plus a decimal fraction), your total days lived in that planet's own day length, and the real Earth calendar date of your next planetary birthday — the day you tick over to your next local year. Leap years and real month lengths are handled, so the dates are calendar-accurate rather than back-of-the-envelope estimates.

Why your next Mars birthday is far away: you might have turned 30 on Earth today, but if you are 15.9 Mars-years old, your 16th Martian birthday is still at least a couple of months in the future. A Martian year lasts 687 Earth days, so Martian birthdays arrive roughly once every two Earth years. On Mercury the opposite happens: a Mercury year is only 88 Earth days, so you blow out candles more than four times as often as you do on Earth.

How old would I be on Mars?
Divide your Earth age in days by 687, the length of one Mars year. A 30-year-old Earthling is about 15.9 Mars years old, and a 60-year-old is roughly 31.9 Mars years old. Because a Mars year is nearly twice as long as an Earth year, your Mars age is a little over half your Earth age.
Which planet makes me the oldest?
Mercury, by a wide margin. A Mercury year lasts only 88 Earth days, so a 30-year-old Earthling has completed 124 Mercury orbits. If you want the biggest possible number, Mercury is your planet; if you want the smallest, Pluto wins at roughly 0.12 local years for the same 30 Earth years.
Does my age stay the same on every planet?
Your biological age does not change at all — you have lived exactly the same number of days. What changes is how many local years those days represent. The number is different because each planet's year is a different length, not because time passes differently for you.
Why is Venus such an odd case?
Venus rotates so slowly, and backwards, that one Venusian day (243 Earth days) is longer than one Venusian year (224.7 Earth days). If you lived on Venus you would celebrate a birthday before you finished a single day.
