📖 How It Works

Lung age is estimated by comparing your predicted FEV1 — the volume of air you can forcefully exhale in one second — to the value expected for someone of your sex and height. The age at which your FEV1 would be considered normal is your lung age.

The model uses the standard prediction equations (4.30 x height(m) - 0.029 x age - 2.49 for men, 3.95 x height(m) - 0.025 x age - 2.60 for women) and applies an average loss of about 0.021 litres per pack-year, with former smokers recovering part of the loss. This is an educational estimate, not a diagnosis — a real spirometry test by a doctor is the only accurate way to measure lung function.
