📖 How It Works

Cats age much faster early in life — the first year of a cat's life equals about 15 human years, the second year adds about 9 more (so a 2-year-old cat is roughly 24 in human years), and every year after that adds about 4 human years.

After age 2 the conversion is nearly linear, which is why a 10-year-old human is about 56 in cat years and a 15-year-old human about 76. This simple 15/9/4 rule lets you translate any human age into cat years quickly and accurately.

ðŸ’Ą Why It Matters

Understand Your Cat Better

Converting ages helps owners appreciate how quickly kittens mature and how much a cat's needs change across its life stages.

Vet-Approved Conversion

The 15/9/4 rule is the standard used by veterinarians to estimate a cat's age in human terms — the same formula this calculator uses.

Plan for Senior Care

Knowing your cat's human age helps you schedule senior checkups and adjust diet and activity levels at the right time.
