📖 How It Works

The Buddhist Era (B.E.) calendar is a lunisolar calendar used across Southeast Asia, most notably as the official civil calendar in Thailand. A Buddhist Era year is exactly 543 years ahead of the Western (C.E.) year, so you convert simply by adding 543 to the Western year (or subtracting 543 to go the other way). This calculator takes your birth year — entered in either B.E. or C.E. — and works out your age in the Buddhist Era by subtracting your B.E. birth year from the current B.E. year.

For example, in 2026 C.E. the Buddhist Era year is 2569. Someone born in B.E. 2550 (C.E. 2007) turns 19 in 2569 B.E. Use the reference table below for quick conversions between the two calendars.

ðŸ’Ą Why It Matters

🧭 Traveling in Thailand

Thai visas, train tickets, hotel receipts and festival dates are usually printed in B.E. Knowing the B.E. year (C.E. + 543) helps you read documents and book travel without confusion.

📜 Cultural & Heritage Records

Temple inscriptions, historical chronicles and religious observances across Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Sri Lanka are dated in the Buddhist Era. Converting B.E. to C.E. makes these records easy to understand.

📋 Official Documents

Thai ID cards, birth certificates, school records and government forms use B.E. dates. A quick conversion clarifies your age and birth year when filling out paperwork or verifying documents.

💞 Business in Southeast Asia

Contracts, invoices and deadlines in Thailand and neighbouring countries are frequently written in B.E. Converting dates correctly prevents missed deadlines and misunderstandings in cross-border business.
